One of my current weekly obsessions at the moment is watching the anime series, "Hakushaku to Yousei" ( 伯爵と妖精 ), which means "Earl & Fairy." The story is really cute and is currently being published as a light novel series in Cobalt Magazine. Serialization began earlier this year and the series is still ongoing so I'm going to assume that the anime is going to end at just 13 episodes for now, but maybe after more of the story is published, the animation will be picked up again... (Well, it's wishful thinking on my part).

Anyway, for those who don't know, the girl in this fanart piece is the heroine of Hakushaku to Yousei (HtY) named Lydia Carlton. Lydia is a 17 year-old fairy doctor living during Victorian England times and can see fairies. Because of this ability she has been ridiculed by others since she was young, but one day she is abducted by the mysterious and handsome count, Edgar J.C. Ashenbert, to help him locate the Sword of Merrow, a family heirloom that is handed down to the 'Earl of Blue Knights." Though Lydia is suspicious of Edgar, she still helps him in his quest to secure his position as the Blue Knight Earl. Later, she becomes his advisor for all fairy-related matters and finds herself the reluctant object of his affections.

This piece took me several days to complete 'cause I had to work extra hours this week. I drew the sketch on paper with a mechanical pencil as I was half-watching/half-listening to episode nine of the series and then scanned it into my computer. My scanner is kind of a color-killer and I tend to draw pretty light lines so I had to redo some things in Photoshop CS2 before I colored it. The coloring took me such a long time @_@ 'cause I decided to try something new. I also haven't really seriously drawn flowers for a really long time now so those took me a while too @_@; Still, I think it came out pretty well (*^_^*) so I'm happy.
